How to Apply

The Hispanic Health Coalition Scholarship application is completed entirely online. Applicants will upload required documents while filling out the online application.

To be eligible for a Hispanic Health Coalition Scholarship, all minimum requirements must be met.

Scholarship Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to be eligible.

  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, DACA, eligible non-citizen as defined by FAFSA
  • Be of Hispanic/Latino heritage
  • Pursuing a career in healthcare
  • Currently reside in the Greater Houston/Galveston area
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Plan to enroll full-time at an accredited U.S. institution, including Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, as shown by acceptance letters.
  • Students already in college or graduate studies must show continuous enrollment for 2025 and indicate their graduation date.

FAQ

What documents do I need to provide for my application?

You will need to submit the following:

  • Proof of school enrollment for the 2024-2025 academic year, including your graduation date and/or a copy of your college acceptance letter.
  • A FAFSA report or income tax report.
  • An informal transcript.
  • Write a personal statement (500 words) addressing the following: your financial need, why you deserve the HHC scholarship, and how the scholarship would support your academic and career goals in healthcare.

Can I submit my application without all the required documents?

No, all required documents must be submitted for your application to be considered complete.

Is there a deadline for the application?

Please check the application guidelines for specific deadlines.

How will I be notified of the scholarship decision?

Applicants will be notified via email regarding their scholarship status. Be sure to check your email after the application deadline.

How many letters of recommendation are required for the scholarship application?

Only one letter of recommendation is required for the application. You can share the link with the person writing your letter.

Who should I ask to write my letters of recommendation?

It is recommended to choose individuals who know you well academically or professionally, such as teachers, mentors, or supervisors.

Are there any specific criteria for the recommenders?

Recommenders should be able to speak to your character, achievements, and potential in the healthcare field.
